Bugle Call Week 1

Hello my KOH followers! Welcome to Kohahna’s Bugle Call. Each week we’ll write a little blog telling you ALL about the happenings here at the KOH. It’s pretty great, so tune in each week so you don’t miss out on all the tea.

This week the tea was strong! There were so many new campers to meet and greet. There were lots of old BFFs reconnecting with squeals and running hugs. Giggles and laughter abounded. There were soooo many hugs and very few tears! We got all the deets at Council Fire Sunday night, and an unexpected appearance from the illusive Mother Nature, meant that all the new campers learned what teams they’re on. I personally look better in blue, so prefer to root for the Sky Team, but I will admit the Pine and Sand Teams were rockin it with their team cheers and enthusiasm.

Some of my fellow bloggers reported that the evening activities this week were on point. I heard all about Tuesday night Bombardment, a fan fav. Who doesn’t love pegging people with dodgeballs in the spirit of competition? I took a sneak peek at the Newlywed game questions - what snoops those counselors are! But I assume it’s normal to want to know everything about everyone. I know I do. By Friday night, we all knew a LOT more about each other! The Lip Sync dances this week were FABULOUS. I mean, to die for. Like, for real. Those little ones really know how to rock a glittery dress and a feather boa!

Before I sign off for the week, you should know that KOH is rocking the trips next week. The mighty CTs are heading to Canada to check out the blue lake and rocky shores. Some of the older girls are heading to Picture Rocks and Grand Island for some amazing backpacking and some dope views. Fire!

 XOXO

***For those in need of a translation of the abominable writing style above, I will supply you with a brief transcription:

The first week was fun and full of new and old friendships developing and reconnecting. The cabins ring constantly with laughter and joy.

The new campers found out which camper team they are on (Sands or Pines) and how they can contribute to their team’s success throughout the summer.

We also talked about the Summer Metaphysical theme: Our High Ideals. This week we focused on the KQuality Graciousness and worked with a story from the Bible and a moment from Mary Baker Eddy’s life to take our expression and understanding of Graciousness to a deeper, more metaphysical level.

The evening activities included Bombardment, Lawn Games, Newlyweds, Lip Sync, and 8 Sticks (capture the flag-esque game).

Despite some off and on rain, campers thrived in their Morning Activities and they can’t wait to find out what activities they are in next week.

We’ll share more about the trips that are going out during the 2nd week in next week’s report. All three trips have some of the best views of Lake Superior and we can’t wait for them to get back!
